Jack Yan
Jack Yan founded Jack Yan & Associates (www.jyanet.com), one of the world’s first virtual firms, in 1987. His company is based or represented in over a dozen countries worldwide. Among his company’s interests are business consulting, imaging, software and media, including the fashion magazine brand Lucire. He writes on topics, ranging from branding and business responsibility to fashion and typography, in numerous publications worldwide and is a regular international speaker.
His personal site is at www.jackyan.com, and features a highly regarded blog. He is a director of the Medinge Group (http://medinge.org), a think-tank in Sweden devoted to cutting-edge branding.
Jack’s seminar on the topic of social networking at the recent Small Business Expo held in Wellington was “standing room only”.

Steve Wilson
Steve Wilson is the director of Social Eyes Consultancy , which offers various research, policy formation, marketing, social media strategies and business development solutions for those businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector. Current and existing clients include BRANZ, Hotel SO, Vistagate, Liverton, Heritage Expeditions Ltd, Christchurch City Council, but to name a few.
Being awarded a Bachelor of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, along with a Masters in Applied Sciences majoring in Tourism Policy, Management and Marketing, he is now his final year of a 3 year research program for the award of PhD. This research is looking at how the perceptions of safety and crime influence tourist’s decision making and behaviour.
A notable component of this comprises a detailed investigation in the use of social media sites by tourists to access information and to post feedback, responses and concerns. The potential impacts upon the tourism industry are being assessed, along with marketing and management implications for tourism and hospitality.
